About Me

Hello, I am Amy. Nice to meet you. As you will learn if you decide to reach out to me, I have a very diverse realm of experience in the horse world and beyond. In addition to my past career as an interpretive specialist and park ranger, I am currently an author, web developer, consultant, artist, and songwriter with two dogs and two beloved horses of my own. My personal website with my endeavors can be found here: For my role as an Equine Consultant, I have over 20 years of equine experience including the following:

  • Running and maintaining my own small farm with two horses; my history of riding and horse husbandry traces back ten millennia (okay, not that far, considering I'm in my thirties, but sometimes it feels like it, for better or for worse).

  • Multiple years of working with horse rescue as a field agent, volunteer, rehabilitator, and trainer of both people and horses in associated handling & communication.

  • Experience in bridging connections between horse and human.

  • Facilitating the overcoming of past equine trauma.

  • Led a therapeutic riding program for children with autism.

  • Have trained multiple horses (including one of my own).

  • Experience working with a wide variety of horse trainers, communicators, and facilitators, some of world-renown.

  • Worked as both a merchandiser and salesperson for a high-volume high-end tack and feed store in Del Mar, California.

  • Past member of the University of San Diego Equestrian Team.

  • Currently riding and training in multiple disciplines.

  • History of boarding at a variety of different barns of all sizes.

  • Assisted with barn management, upkeep, and maintenance of a very large multiple-horse farm and facility.

  • Have functioned as a barn “personal shopper,” attending multiple tent-sale events, entrusted with purchasing thousands of dollars worth of equine-related merchandise including everything from tack to clothing, equipment, horse blankets, & safety equipment.

Other tidbits:

  • I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of San Diego and have worked for the National Park Service, Washington State Parks, the US Navy, and even Starbucks.

  • I am from Tacoma, Washington and have lived in California, Tennessee, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and now Washington again.

  • My youngest horse, Atlas, is a rescue as is also my youngest pup, a chihuahua named Aurelia. Winston is my Belgian/QH cross and Ranger is my elder Australian Cattledog.

  • My legal name is Amy McDougall Filosa, but for professional purposes, I go by my pen name, Amy Rise Infinity.
